Burt's Bees Rosewater Toner

Is Toner a Beauty Fad or Beauty Basic ?

It depends on how you view it. Toner is used to remove the remains of make up residue on the face and prepare the skin for the next step (which is moisturizer and serum application). It will also help to tighten pores firm the skin. In certain cases like acne/ oily skin condition, oil-controlling toner will help to reduce the production of oil by the sebaceous oil glands and also kills bacteria that causes acne.

If you are looking for a common toner that suits various needs, you can consider Burt's Bees Rosewater & Glycerin Toner. Burt's Bees being the natural skin care company with more than 20 years of experience in the market are consider one of the pioneer in natural skin care industry love by many users around the globe.

Burt's Bees Rosewater & Glycerin Toner is 100% natural. Its suitable for normal to combination skin, dry  or mature skin and even sensitive skin. It contains ...

Vegetable glycerin - also known as glycerol, an organic compound of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen with the chemical formula C3H8O3. It can be made from animal fat or, in the case of vegetable glycerin, vegetable oil. It is hygroscopic (it absorbs moisture from the air into the skin). Due to its hygroscopic properties, it will help relieve dry skin problems by drawing water up from the lower layers.

Rose water One of the main benefits of rose water is that it acts as an anti-inflammatory, soothing irritated skin, helps reduce damage done from sun exposure, a rich source of antioxidants, which can help strengthen skin cells and regenerate skin tissue. These properties make rose water beneficial to people with sensitive skin.

Witch Hazel -known for  its anti-inflammatory effects on conditions such as diaper rash, razor burn and bug bites. Inflammation is caused by free radicals in skin cells . It also has antimicrobial (to heal cuts), astringent (helps tighten skin), Moisturizing (hydration and reduce water loss) and treat sunburn.

Aloe leaf Extract helps with sunburn through its powerful healing activity at the epithelial level of the skin. moisturizes the skin without giving it a greasy feel, so it`s perfect for anyone with an oily skin complexion. helps treat acne as it contains two hormones: Auxin and Gibberellins. These two hormones provide wound healing and anti-inflammatory properties that reduce skin inflammation

Yucca Extract - known for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antifungal properties. It has been known to repair damage cell membranes.

My Beauty emotion : Love it since the day i have it. I have never fail to put it on every day (morning and night). I only used this toner at night when i had my occasional acne (due to stress, late nights, PMS)  and my skin is moist enough to last through the night   ^_^

So whether we need a toner or not really depends the need of the skin and functions of the toner.

I would suggest the following if you are unsure if you need a toner/ when to use a toner...

1. If you have oily skin / acne prone skin - an oil control toner is necessary as it will help to control oil production

2. If you have occasional pimple (meaning only 3-4 times in a month) - avoid using moisturizer at night when you have the acne breakout. As its a sign that your skin is moisturize enough already and moisturizer will only boost more acne. Instead use a toner only at night. A good toner will be able to keep your skin moisture enough to last through the night (If you sleep in air-condition room, place a cup of water to keep the room humid enough so its doesn't dry your skin)

3. If you have dry skin - you will need a toner with nourishing/ moisturizing benefit to keep your skin moisture all time to keep wrinkles at bay as moisturizer alone may not be sufficient.

4. if you are going to a cold climate country - you may want to bring a toner along to prevent your skin from being dry and flaking. Worst case, you may even need to put on moisturizing/ hydrating mask every night while you are there (if you have serious flaking)

5. If you have sensitive skin - You will definitely need a toner to help keep the skin calm so that it doesn't itch. Look for toner that contains aloe vera, rosewater or Witch hazel extract.

Clear Fine Gel

Exfoliating At Ease…Even for the most delicate skin..

There have been many exfoliating products in the market. Mostly it comes in the form of...
a. scrubs - seed based particles derived from fruits (such as peach seed, apricot seed) or sugar. usually not suitable for sensitive skin.

b. gel form - which exfoliates by applying the gel on face or neck area and gently message in circular motion. usually its from multi-fruit complex extract. usually not suitable for sensitive skin.

However I came across this product and it caught my attention. It’s called the Clear Fine Gel. What caught my attention is that it says that it’s suitable for all skin types, even sensitive skin.

“Clear Fine Gel is product from Japan. It’s a water based and natural (without fragrance, colourant and preservative) face exfoliator that is gentle to skin. It aids in removing blackheads, pro clogging debris and old dead skins and hence help to regulates new skin development for brighter skin complexion. Best of all… because of its gentleness, it can be used on a daily basis”

Below are a list of ingredients that i have look through that made up the product contents...

Gylcerin : a natural humectant that attracts moisture from the air to the skin to keep it supple at all time

Mulberry root extract : a natural extract from the white mulberry tree that can be found in native china and has been used over the centuries for its medicinal properties. In skin care it will help to lighten age spots and uneven skin tone

Hydrolyzed collagen : contains 8 out of 9 essential amino acids that the skin needed to maintain moisture and smoothness

Sodium hyluronate : a sodium salt of hyluronic acid which is found mainly in the dermis of young skin. Hyluronic acid maintain skin volume or fullness by holding on to water. However it will decrease as we age and skin loses it youthfulness. As an anti aging treatment, it’s usually injected into the dermis to restore facial fullness. Sodium hyluronate is powerful humectants that attracts and holds on to moisture. Thus product that contains sodium hyluronate help to replenish the hyluronic acid lost due to sun exposure and aging process. Keeping it supple, moisture and keeps fine line and wrinkles at bay.

Glycospingolipids : Rice based lipids that are similar to the skin’s natural lipids. They hydrate, provide moisture retention capabilities and strengthen skin’s natural barrier.

Other than that, it also contains beneficial ingredients such as lysolecithin , hydrogenated lecithin, isopropyl alcohol (which will help reduce acne by drying excess oil and also soothes tired skin) and cetrimonium Chloride (helps to disrupt surface microorganisms)

This video where i have tested the products on my hand uneven skin tone. It's result is immediate. For better result, pair it with your favourite skin care regime. To maintain the result, i would suggest to used it once every 2-3 days. This gel is retail at RM69 per bottle

It's a pretty simple steps..
Step 1 : wash face and pat it dry with towel
Step 2 : squeeze Clear Fine gel into fingers. use about a 50 cents coin size will be sufficient for the whole face.
Step 3 : gently message the gel all over the face in circular motion. you will notice there is white particles formation (which is the dead cells)
Step 4 : rinse off with clean water
Step 5 : Apply your daily skin care regime.

My beauty emotion for this product : Superb
